New chapter published: Application of artificial intelligence in immuno-oncology

I’m excited to share that our book chapter on artificial intelligence in immuno-oncology has just been published in the Reference Module in Biomedical Sciences (Elsevier, 2024).

📖 DOI: 10.1016/B978-0-443-14064-8.00017-5

In this chapter, we explore how AI is reshaping immuno-oncology, from predicting responses to immunotherapy and identifying biomarkers to analyzing the tumor immune microenvironment. We discuss cutting-edge methods involving transformer models, digital pathology, radiomics, and single-cell transcriptomics, with a special focus on challenges like cell annotation and T cell activation modeling.

This project was a rewarding collaboration with amazing colleagues and friends: Raphael Gronauer, Gabriel Floriani, Melanie Balaz, and Hubert Hackl. I’m grateful to have contributed to this work in such a fast-moving and high-impact area.

We’d love to hear your feedback—especially if you’re working at the intersection of AI and cancer immunotherapy.
