MIO: microRNA target analysis platform for immuno-oncology is published!

I’m proud to share my first first-author publication, now published in Bioinformatics (Oxford University Press):

MIO is a user-friendly web platform and Python toolkit (miopy) designed to support researchers in analyzing microRNA–gene interactions in immuno-oncology. It integrates:

  • 40 microRNA target prediction tools

  • Machine learning methods for biomarker discovery

  • TCGA expression & immune infiltration data

  • Prognostic and predictive microRNA/gene network analysis

  • Immune-related gene signatures and immunophenoscores

This project was the result of a full year of work during my Erasmus+ internship at the Medical University of Innsbruck, under the mentorship of Hubert Hackl. It was a formative experience where I expanded what I had learned during my Bioinformatics MSc in Valencia—diving deep into Python, Django, TCGA data analysis, and machine learning for cancer biology.

Huge thanks to Raphael Gronauer, Leonie Madersbacher, Christoph Schatz, Dietmar Rieder, and Hubert Hackl for all your support and collaboration!
